The LifeLock promotion campaign is ubiquitous.

You’ve seen it a hundred times on TV: LifeLock CEO Todd Davis holds up his Social Security card and reads off the number: “I’m Todd Davis, CEO of LifeLock, and yes, that’s really my Social Security number.” Rush Limbaugh, Dr. Laura, Howard Stern, Fred Thompson…they all shill for Lifelock. Davis’ smiling mug even graces the sides of buses and delivery vans.

The LifeLock promotion machine is so pervasive, it can get a little...shall we say, tedious.

Besides all their self promotion, LifeLock also promotes community involvement and philanthropy. But that’s a side that isn’t part of the LifeLock promotion most Americans are familiar with. Here are just a few examples of LifeLock’s commitment to supporting organizations already doing good works, and helping protect people left vulnerable to identity theft by crisis.

Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley (11 clubs in Tempe AZ vicinity)
LifeLock provides general funding, scholarships, and sponsorship of the club’s annual art auction. LifeLock employees are encouraged to volunteer for the clubs during their work hours.

Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation
LifeLock donates 15 percent of all fees from new members who signed up in 2005 using a designated LifeLock promotion code. The promotion began in 2005 and continues making donations throughout the members’ terms as LifeLock customers.

Tornado victims (Arkansas, Illinois, Tennessee, Missouri, Ohio)
LifeLock donated free identity theft protection service to anyone affected by the devastating tornadoes that tore through the Midwest during the fall of 2006. LifeLock also worked with the credit reporting corporations to place a statement in each victim’s credit report indicating that the consumer was a victim of the tornadoes, and asking that the creditor please keep that in mind should the credit score decline.

Veterans and military members
LifeLock donated free identity theft protection to any of the 26.6 million Americans affected by the enormous data breach of records from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.

SafetyNET
LifeLock (with Newsweek) co-sponsored the SafetyNET program created by Congress, and administered by MENTOR, a nationwide organization providing advocacy and resources for student mentoring. The SafetyNET program protects children by providing fingerprinting and deep background check services on volunteers interested in becoming mentors.

Kansas City Metro Chiefs and Sheriffs Association
Hands On Kansas City
LifeLock showed its appreciation to these organizations by donating hundreds of tickets to the LifeLock 400, NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, and the NASCAR Busch Series race.

Hurricane Katrina victims
LifeLock donated free identity theft protection services to anyone affected by Hurricane Katrina. LifeLock also worked with the credit reporting corporations to place a statement in each victim’s report indicating that the consumer was a victim of the tornadoes, and asking that the creditor please keep that in mind should the credit score decline.

Arizona State University
LifeLock donated $10,000 to fund five new scholarships for undergraduate students seeking ASU’s new Applied Computing and Mathematics degree, or a degree in accounting or marketing from the School of Global Management and Leadership.
