Two women in Los Angeles have been arrested and charged with engaging in “Arsenic and Old Lace”-like crimes. Well maybe that’s a stretch, considering these women might not have killed actual people, and the dotty old aunts in the movie weren’t collecting on fraudulent insurance policies.
Faye Schilling, 60, and Jean Crump, 66, are accused of taking in homeless men, insuring them (listing themselves as benefactors of course), stealing their identities, killing them, burying them and collecting the insurance for an estimated $1 million.
The biggest question facing the U.S. Attorney’s office now is whether or not their victims were actual people, or if the identities were fictitious.
“Ultimately, I believe they are going to end up being purely fictitious,” said Special Assistant U.S. Atty. Anthony Montero.
Even if the “victims” are found to have been purely fictional, the women might still be found guilt of identity theft—synthetic identity theft.
Identity thieves commit synthetic identity theft by linking authentic and manufactured identifying information, or by building an entirely new identity from purely invented personal information.
Crump, a mortuary worker, and Schilling, a phlebotomist, allegedly had accomplices. Two other women have already entered guilty pleas, admitting they played a part in the alleged scam. They are Lydia Eileen Pearce, who owned Steward-Pearce Mortuary, and Barbara Lynn, a notary.

I remember when I first ehard of this they said they were real homeless men. I hope they are all ficticious.
Next we’ll find out they sold their kidneys and ate their brains! These women are mutants and should be destroyed. LifeLock CEO should drive van around skidrow and give out free memberships to the homeless.
